Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must reside within 13 minutes of the station
- Must pass a physical/medical exam
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass a background check
Training We Provide
No prior experience is required. Rockford Fire Department will provide all necessary training, including:
- Firefighter I
- Firefighter II
- Hazmat Operations
- Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)
What We Expect
- Minimum 30% response to emergency calls
- Attend at least 70% of all department trainings and meetings
- Complete a minimum one-year probationary period
Probationary members are unpaid until all required training is completed.
💰 $2,000 Signing Bonus
All new members receive a one-time $2,000 signing bonus upon successful completion of their training.
